Energy Cost Calculation Details
- Examples assume platforms operating for 3 years, at 100% load point, or 30% load point, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year plus an additional 60% representing energy consumption to cool the servers
- Calculation of energy cost is based on $.10 per kWh
- Calculation of energy cost comparisons assume a 42U rack containing 20 total servers operating for 3 years
- Platform-level power measurements displayed and used in deriving energy consumption costs were obtained using publicly available platforms outlined in the platform configuration details
The energy cost calculation is theoretical in nature and is not intended to provide precise figures. Rather, the calculation is intended to provide a theoretical, estimated representation of money spent to operate and cool measured platforms based on the assumptions set forth above. AMD cannot and does not guarantee that any particular person or business will save money by using the AMD Opteron™ processor given the multitude of variables involved that are unique to the platform and each end user.
